How to Use Noni Fruit the Traditional Way

Polynesians and native Hawaiians have known for centuries that noni is a powerful plant for healing. The Polynesians brought noni as one of their 27 “canoe plants” when they first came to settle the Hawaiian islands, and since then, it’s uses have been passed down through generations.
We learned about noni when we moved to our farm on Kauai from California back in 1982. Over time, its ability to heal and fortify the body became clear to us as it healed us and our friends from many chronic health problems. Over the years, the testimonials we’ve gotten from our customers and friends has been further proof to us: noni heals.
But we think a lot of people don’t really understand what noni’s about. They drink the juice, fermented, diluted, and usually sweetened. Countless studies have shown that noni juice contains barely a fraction of the beneficial compounds of the raw fruit.
Traditionally, noni wasn’t fermented and turned into juice as some people do by placing it in glass jars.I always challenge people to visit Bishop Museum in Honolulu and look for a glass jar from even just 150 years ago. They didn’t have them, and they didn’t need them. They ate noni fresh from the tree, year-round.

We stick to that tradition at Hawaiian Organic Noni, because we trust the ancient wisdom of those explorers who brought noni with them as a precious commodity from faraway islands. Here’s what you can learn about noni from the ways it was traditionally used as part of daily life.

Fresh, Raw, and Unfermented

Our goal is to bring you as close as possible to picking the noni right off the tree and eating it fresh—because that’s the way it was meant to be eaten. We make our noni products from raw, organic, unfermented noni pulp.

Challenges of Preserving Noni

Noni has a preservation problem, which is why it was almost always eaten freshly picked from the tree. People began fermenting and preserving it as a matter of convenience. As soon as the white mature fruit is picked, it begins to undergo a slow ripening process and then begins to rot and ferment.  Fermentation turns sugars into alcohol, alters enzyme structures, and damages many of the beneficial compounds.
We were determined to find a way to preserve noni without damaging the health benefits of the raw fruit.

Innovative Process, Traditional Results

After a lot of experimentation, we found that removing the water from noni halted the fermentation process. We developed our unique low-heat dehydration system, to turn raw noni pulp into 100% pure noni fruit leather.
We encourage you to come visit us on Kauai to try fresh noni right from the tree and see what the true traditional experience is like. But if you don’t have access to noni trees every day, you can rest assured that our products are as close to the raw fruit as you can get.

Taking Noni Internally as Raw Food

This is where the real work gets done: when you let noni heal from the inside out. Taking noni internally helps the beneficial compounds in the fruit make the most difference on your body’s systems.
Evidence shows that noni was traditionally eaten daily, both as a natural preventative and for healing a wide variety of conditions, both chronic and acute.

Natural Preventative

Noni was most commonly used as a preventative for a variety of conditions. It has proved itself excellent at maintaining good health, increasing energy levels and holding illness and aging at bay.
Ancient Polynesians valued the noni fruit in large part because of its ability to keep them vital and healthy. It was eaten daily to promote good health.

Healing Long-Term Conditions

Eating noni can also take action against long-term conditions that often resist other treatment. Great examples are diabetes, rheumatoid arthritis, high blood pressure and joint pain. When ancient Polynesians got sick, they upped their daily noni intake while they healed.
We recommend taking two to four 2x2 inch pieces per day for healing chronic conditions. You can expect to see results over time, ranging from a week to a month depending on the condition and the severity.

Applying Noni Topically

Topical noni application is another widely known traditional use. Raw fruit was often applied to the skin for various reasons. Noni applied to the skin heals from the outside in, helping build and maintain healthy skin and penetrating deep into the tissue to attack pain at its source.

Promotes Long-Term Skin Health

One reason ancient Polynesians applied noni to the skin was as a long-term preventative. Applied daily, noni fights signs of aging, protects against skin conditions, and heals sun damage.
You might not be able to apply fresh noni fruit to your skin each day, but our Noni Lavender Lotion is made of just noni pulp, water, lavender, and a little grapefruit seed extract. The Noni Lavender Lotion is 99.2% organic noni pulp.

Relieving Pain Symptoms

Chronic pain relief was another traditional use of noni. Noni fruit was applied to inflamed, bruised, strained, or otherwise painful areas to bring relief while healing.
Current published research has shown that the beneficial compounds in noni are75% as effective as morphine for pain relief, but without any of the side effects. Professional athletes use noni to keep pain at bay so they’re ready perform—ancient Polynesians did the same thing.
We created two formulas using menthol and camphor to take the pain relief to the next level: our IcyHeat Noni Lotion is 4% menthol camphor and our IcyHeat Sports Formula is 5% menthol camphor for quickness of response.

5 Tips to Use Noni for Massage

Massage is one of the best ways to connect with your loved ones, while delivering powerful pain and stress relief. It’s a gesture of caring that can’t help but bring two people closer together.
It also has tons of health benefits:
  • Pain relief
  • Improved circulation
  • Enhanced sleep quality
  • Reduced fatigue and stress
  • Relief from headaches
  • Boosted immune function
  • Skin health
You don’t always have to go to a professional to get a massage—many people enjoy massaging and getting massages from their friends and family. You might massage your husband, wife, children, parents, or friends. It’s a fun, relaxing, healing activity that’s always appreciated.

When you use Hawaiian Organic Noni lotions during massage at home, you’re one step closer to a professional spa setting. Many local Hawaiian spas use our lotions as part of massage or skin treatments.
Here’s how we recommend using Noni for massage!

1. Apply Liberally and Let Dry

Noni lotions are water-based lotions that nourish the skin and heal it. They are best incorporated into massage by applying to localized areas, such as the shoulders, back, neck, or calves.
Use Noni lotion to loosen and relax the area that is tense or in pain. Apply and gently rub the lotion into the skin, then let air dry. Move on to massage another area of the body to give the Noni lotion time to penetrate into the muscle tissue. After 10-15 minutes come back and begin to massage the once tense area using a combination of long, slow, deep strokes, and shorter, faster, shallow strokes. Check in to make sure you’re using a comfortable amount of pressure, and work and stretch tense muscles gently, working along the muscle rather than across it.
As you massage, you may apply more Noni lotion as needed. Don’t rub it in until it’s dry, unless you want to exfoliate the skin. Let a thin coat air dry on the skin, for maximum penetration of the beneficial nutrients.

2. Use Noni Lavender Lotion to Soothe and Nourish

A gentle, healing formula, Noni Lavender Lotion is a great option for massaging across wider areas. You can use it on sensitive skin, and it can be applied multiple times each day. The formula soothes with gentle lavender, and the beneficial compounds of noni work to relieve inflammation and pain in sore muscles.
Noni Lavender Lotion is made of organic, pure Noni pulp mixed with water to make a nourishing lotion with the ability to heal the body from the outside in. It not only works to restore skin and muscle tissue, it reduces inflammation, relieves pain, and provides the nutrient building blocks to build and repair healthy muscle.
Noni has been applied topically on Hawaii since Polynesian settlers first brought and cultivated it here. They brought Noni with them because they knew how powerful the fruit was. Eating Noni fruit and applying it to the skin promotes and maintains good health—it’s ancient wisdom.
Use Noni Lavender Lotion to bring that healing power to work on your loved ones’ aches and pains through massage.

4. Apply Icy Heat Noni Lotion to Feet First

This strange trick has been proven time and time again when we attend farmers markets and trade shows, as well as on the farm and in testimonials you send in. If you rub Icy Heat Noni Lotion on the soles of a person’s feet and then to the affected area, the menthol, camphor, and noni all take effect much more quickly. There are over 2000 nerve endings on the bottom of your feet that allow our Noni lotions to penetrate the whole body through these nerves for quickness of response.
When you or your loved ones need speedy relief from pain, remember this trick! It’s unbelievable how quickly these lotions take effect to fight pain and inflammation.

5. Massage Your Pets Too!

Don’t forget your furry friends! Pets love massage too. It’s a lot like giving them a good rubdown, but you can actually target specific muscle groups, relieve tension, and help them relax. Especially for aging pets, massage is a wonderful way to bond through caring for them.
You can use our Noni Lavender Lotion for Pets to target especially sore or lethargic muscles. It will relieve pain and inflammation in cats, dogs, and even horses. All of these animals enjoy massage. Just apply the lotion beneath the fur and rub into the skin. Remember do not use Icy Heat Noni Lotion on animals as if they accidentally got it in their eyes they do not have the recourse to get it out!
Don’t worry if your pet licks some of the lotion off. Not only is it safe to eat, the lotion actually can work just as well from the inside to promote health.
Whether you’re massaging your human or animal friends, Noni can help a good massage penetrate deep down where it’s needed. The beneficial compounds in Noni take your massage to the next level by relieving pain, reducing inflammation, and repairing muscle tissue.

Noni: Organic Flea and Tick Preventative

Got an itchy dog?
Flea bites and tick infestations can be annoying to your pets and cause allergic reactions. There are lots of ways to prevent these pests, but many of them involve harsh chemicals that you might not want to bring into your household. Or you might be looking for something to supplement the treatments you’re already using.
Either way, there’s an organic flea and tick preventative, in the form of a raw food that’s grown, harvested, and processed on our organic family farm on Kauai.
Noni fruit has beneficial properties for pets as well as humans. One of these benefits is naturally deterring fleas and ticks.

Fleas

Fleas are the classic dog pest, and for good reason—they’re a plague on our furry friends! It can be very difficult to keep your dog away from fleas if they spend any amount of time outside.
Fleas can survive temperatures as low as 65 degrees, making them a year-round concern for many pet owners. They inhabit many parts of the world, and live in many different environments.
Preventing fleas is part of being a pet owner. Pets can bring fleas inside, and may carry diseases transmissible to humans. It’s very important to find a solution that works for you and your pet.

Symptoms

Fleas lay eggs on the skin of your pet, which turn into larva that infect your pet’s bedding and your home. When the larvae are ready, they hop onto the nearest available host and start the cycle again—often on the same pet that fed their mother.
Pets can tell that there are fleas on their skin, and they usually scratch, chew, and bite the affected areas. It’s very possible for the skin to get infected and irritated, or for an allergic reaction to develop.

Problems with Existing Treatments

The chemicals used to kill fleas are obviously rather harsh pesticides. It’s well below a lethal dose for your pet, but with low-dose exposure overtime, the results are not well-studied. Initial reports indicate that many pets are sickened or even die each year as a result of exposure to flea-killing chemicals.

Natural Ways to Prevent or Kill Fleas

  • Sprinklediatomaceous earth or borax on carpet that may be infected
  • Essential oils, including lavender, citronella, pennyroyal, and eucalyptus
  • Comb pet with soapy water
  • Vacuum frequently anywhere that your pet spends a lot of time
  • Use noni topically and give your pets noni fruit leather to prevent fleas

Ticks

If your dog spends a lot of time outside in a tick-prone area, a daily tick check should be part of your routine.
Ticks bite your pets and suck blood from them, sometimes injecting an anesthetic so your pet doesn’t notice it. They usually have barbs or glue-like saliva to keep them in place while they feed. The tick then drops off to prepare for its next life cycle change.

The trouble with ticks is, they spread infectious disease when they travel from host to host. They spread a variety of diseases, including Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever. The best way to avoid these infections is to avoid ticks if at all possible, or to try to catch them as quickly as possible.

Problems with Existing Treatments

There are treatments that can help prevent ticks, but they contain potentially harmful chemicalsthat can impact your pet’s digestive tract, internal organs, and overall health in the short and long term. As with flea treatments, it’s important to find a nontoxic solution that works for you and your pet.

Organic Tick Prevention

A good way to prevent your own exposure to ticks is to wear long pants when you take your dog out walking in areas where there might be ticks, but that doesn’t help your dog! Preventing dog ticks is pretty difficult, other than by avoiding tick-infested areas. But that’s not always easy.

Organic Ways to Prevent Ticks

  • Check for ticks often if you live in a high-risk area
  • Try lemon eucalyptus essential oil
  • Give pets noni fruit leather to prevent ticks

Noni as a Non-Toxic Preventative

Noni Fruit Leather can act as anorganic flea and tick preventative if you feed it to your dog regularly over a period of time. It’s 100% certified organic, with no preservatives or added chemicals. It’s just raw, low- heat dehydrated noni pulp, full of beneficial enzymes.By taking Noni Fruit Leatherinternally it gets in your pets system and fleas and ticks leave.

Noni Benefits

  • Immune builder: Enzymes in noni help the body fight diseases and parasitic infestation
  • Skin regeneration: Raw noni has been used for years to help heal the skin
  • Reduces inflammation: restores balance to the body’s systems and soothes pain

Bhakti Example

Bhakti is our much-loved farm dog, who runs up to us every day when it’s time to take his noni. He clearly knows it’s good for him. He’s 11 years old, but still behaves like a puppy.

Fed noni all his life, Bhakti has never had a tick or a flea, or heartworm. He’s never had shots or pills to prevent them, it is the noni that keeps him healthy and the fleas and ticks at bay.

Noni: Your Organic Path to Clear Skin

Anyone who has suffered from chronic, hormonal, or periodic acne knows how incredibly frustrating it can be. Most acne sufferers have run the gambit of treatment options, including harsh chemicals and expensive medication.
Many of these harsh chemicals actually further inflame the skin, and can lead to excessive dryness, redness, and itching. For many people, noni can be a great all-natural alternative solution for acne. It works without any harsh chemicals, contains all-organic ingredients, and works with your skin, instead of against it.
We created our Noni Lavender Lotion to be gentle, soothing, and effective against a wide variety of skin complaints, including acne. Here’s how it works.

Relief from Pain and Inflammation

The first step to reducing acne is to reduce the inflammation in the area. Noni contains tons of beneficial compounds that actually work as anti-inflammatories. One of these is scopoletin, an anti-inflammatory phytochemical that is being researched for healing and pain relief.
Reducing inflammation in acne-prone areas helps to slow down the positive feedback loop of irritation and acne formation that can be so difficult to escape from.  If you struggle with touching or itching your acne, reducing inflammation might relieve the urge.
Noni also contains compounds that act as anti-histamines, which can help reduce acne altogether by decreasing your body’s sensitivity to skin irritants.

Cleansing Antimicrobial

Most of the time, acne gets out of hand when a secondary exterior infection triggers even more inflammation and immune response. Many people combat this by overwashing the face, or by stripping the face with harsh chemicals, but this can actually be counter-productive.
Noni is a much gentler anti-microbial, using organic ingredients to guard your skin against infection. Scopoletin is an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal agent, as well as an anti-inflammatory. Noni also contains anthraquinone, which helps keep bacterial like Staphylococcus aureus, E. coli, and Salmonella at bay.
Just giving your body the chance to heal unimpeded can go a long way towards recovery.

Long-Term Improvement to Skin Texture

Acne is almost always caused by a skin texture problem. Acne-prone skin may be too oily, too flakey, or too prone to clogged pores. All of these conditions can be improved with regular use of noni.
Noni contains the building blocks your body needs to create healthy, resilient skin. Taking noni orally and applying it topically combine to help your body create, protect, and renew youthful, acne-free skin. It works over time by improving collagen levels, providing abundant antioxidants, and providing micronutrients needed by the skin to create healthy new cells.
The result is relief from acne by treating the true root of the problem: skin texture and imbalance.

Reduced Scarring

Scarring can be one of the most frustrating aspects of an acne problem. Even once the blemishes themselves are healed, they leave behind unsightly scars that can last for years, or even a lifetime.
By helping the skin get all the nutrients it needs while it’s healing, noni can actually prevent scarring. It boosts collagen production in skin cells, which can help newly forming skin blend properly with existing skin tissue. Noni can also help even out skin tone and texture, to reduce the appearance of discolored scars or patches of damaged skin.

Acne Relief for All Ages

People of all ages suffer from acne for different reasons. Hormone levels change, the environment fluctuates, we come into contact with a new irritant. It’s hard to ever feel fully in the clear from acne. But using noni as a reliable, long-term treatment, both internally and externally, can give your skin some resilience against these changes.

Canoe Plants: The Ancient Wisdom of Environmental Stewardship

Can you imagine moving to a strange new land, able to bring only what would fit in your small, seafaring canoe? What would you bring with you? What would you leave behind?
It would certainly force you to evaluate what was really important to you. You would have to decide what you could live without, what could be replaced, and what things were essential for survival.

Brave Explorers

This was the decision ancient Polynesians had to make when they set out to colonize new islands. These islands included the Hawaiian Islands, which Polynesian voyagers discovered as they explored the volcanic islands of the Pacific in their handmade canoes.
Navigators were highly prized, and used an oral tradition to find known islands and remember the location of newly discovered ones. They used complex signs to find their way, like the motion of stars, the presence of wildlife species, the directions of swells on ocean, the colors of sea and sky, and the presence of cloud formations near islands.
Much of their lives and journeys remain mysterious to us, but it’s clear that they travelled by boat, carrying the essentials for life in a new place along with them.

Canoe Plants

Polynesian explorers and settlers recognized the importance of plants as long-lasting, self-renewing resources. They carefully cultivated and utilized many specific plants for food, clothing, handicrafts, medicine, and religious ceremonies. They recognized their interdependency with these plants, and acted as dedicated stewards to them.
For this reason, they brought certain key plants with them to every new island they colonized. These plants are called the canoe plants. In all, there were about 20-35 canoe plants, including noni. They spread across the Pacific Islands alongside their Polynesian stewards.

Canoe plants travelled in the forms of seeds, stalks, tubers, roots, and cuttings, brought along with explorers in their canoes. When the settlers arrived in their new destination, the plants were cultivated. They spread quickly, forever changing the ecosystems of these islands in order to make them more habitable, according to the Polynesian standard of living.

Hawaiian Colonization

Usually, when people talk about canoe plants today, they refer specifically to the species brought by the first settlers of the Hawaiian Islands about 1500 years ago, between 300 and 800 CE by many estimates.
Upon their arrival to the islands, early colonists began to establish settlements along coasts and larger valleys. They cultivated the vital canoe plants they had brought with them, raised livestock, and fished for seafood.
The species they brought with them had a huge, permanent impact on the ecosystems of the Hawaiian Islands. Many native species of birds, plants, and land animals were wiped out by over competition, and the new species flourished and spread.
For better or worse, this is a permanent part of Hawaiian history, that can’t be changed. All we can do now is celebrate the amazing diversity of beneficial plants that exist there today.

Crucial Canoe Plants

Here are just a few of the main canoe plants, with their traditional usage.

Noni (Morinda Citrifolia)

This incredible plant is the one we’ve chosen to base our lives around here at Hawaiian Organic Noni. The pulp of this fruit has incredible healing and pain relieving properties, whether eaten or applied to the skin.  Noni was eaten every day as a natural preventative to keep themselves healthy and prevent illnesses.  The fruit was traditionally used fresh, raw and unfermented.  We follow that tradition today by dehydrating the pulp at a low heat that prevents fermentation and which leaves all the beneficial compounds and enzymes intact.

‘Ulu/Breadfruit (Artocarpus Altilis)

Breadfruit, when cooked, has a potato-like flavor reminiscent of fresh bread, and continues to be a dietary staple in Hawaii. In addition, the milky sap was once used for medicinal purposes and the wood was used as timber for structures and canoes.

Kalo/Taro (Colocasia Esculenta)

This may have been the most important of all the canoe plants, traditionally called the elder sibling to the Hawaiian people. All parts of the plant could be eaten, but especially the root, which was mashed to make poi—a staple of their traditional diet. The leaves are also rich in vitamins and minerals.

Ko/Sugarcane (Saccharum Officinarum)

This is among the more famous canoe plants, used for food, juice, and to sweeten other foods. But sugarcane had many medicinal uses as well. In addition, flower stalks were made into game darts. Sugar quickly turned into a big business, with European influence, which had a major impact (good and bad) on Hawaiian history and culture.

Niu/Coconut (Cocos Nucifera)

Another well-known canoe plant is coconut palm, a highly versatile plant. All parts of the tree could be used for food, shelter, musical instruments, and containers.
All of these plants were cared for, protected, and spread by the first Hawaiian settlers, because they recognized how vital they were to life in their new homes.

Tradition of Stewardship

In 1982, when my family moved to Kauai from our organic farm in California, we also had to make important decisions about what to bring with us. We were moving to a new place, with no roads, electricity, water, or buildings.
But there were lots of noni trees, and we had brought with us our desire to learn about and care for plants. We worked to translate our organic farming practices to care for the noni growing throughout our valley.
Over time, we built our home there. We build a house, created roads, drilled wells, and developed solar and wind-generated electricity. We raised a family and cared for many plants and animals. All in the shadow of trees which got their start from settlers just like us.
We strive every day to learn from their example, and make the most use of noni fruit that we possibly can. It’s our mission to spread this ancient knowledge throughout the world, through our noni fruit leather and lotions.

Summer Skin Part 5: Skin Ailments, Bruises, Sprains, and Fractures

Spending lots of time outside in nature is one of the best parts of summer. But summertime also has lots of dangers for your skin. Good thing Hawaiian Organic Noni is here to help! Over the next few weeks, we’ll be sharing all kinds of ways that our Noni lotions and Noni Fruit Leather can keep your skin healthy this summer.
Being active in the outdoors is great for your mental and physical well-being, but hiking, playing sports, and gardening outside gives you lots of opportunities to get scraped, bumped, or worse.

Bruises, sprains, and fractures can all benefit from real Noni products. This powerful fruit can help you heal faster, with less pain and less long-term damage. Keep reading to learn how our products work, and how they contribute to lifelong healthy skin.

What Kinds of Skin Ailments and Conditions Can Noni Heal?

Noni can heal any kind of injury or condition, whether you’ve injured the skin, blood vessels, connective tissue, or a bone.

Skin Ailments

It’s important to help even a small skin ailment to heal as quickly as possible—even more so for larger ones. When your skin begins to heal, it goes through four stages of recovery:
  1. Inflammation: Body focuses on preventing further damage with blood clotting, narrowing blood vessels, and using specialized cells to clear debris.
  2. Epithelialization: To protect against bacteria and to retain water, new skin cells are formed.
  3. Proliferation: Your skin starts building up more permanent skin and capillaries so the cells can make even more new skin.
  4. Remodeling: The replacement skin continues to strengthen and blend into undamaged skin.
Noni Lavender Lotion can help every step in this process. It reduces painful inflammation, helps protect against infection, provides building blocks of healthy skin, and helps prevent scarring.

Bruising

You get a bruise when the small veins and capillaries under your skin break, and blood leaks out. As your body heals, your body metabolizes the blood cells that were released. Bruising can be very painful, and it’s good to help them heal as quickly as they can. Noni can help reduce inflammation, soothe pain, and provide materials for tissues to heal themselves.

Sprains and Strains

It’s very important for sprains to heal fully and correctly. If a sprain or strain doesn’t fully heal, you’re at greater risk of injuring the area again. You can also be left with long-term pain and stiffness.

Sprains are damage to ligaments, which are what hold your bones together at the joints. When a ligament is stretched too much, it can become inflamed, or even tear. They’re usually caused by a fall, or other distinct one-time injuries.
Strains are muscle or tendon injuries or tears. This also causes inflammation and a great deal of pain. Chronic strains are due to repetitive motion and overuse of muscles and tendons. Acute strains are from an isolated incident of overstretching or over-contracting a muscle.
Both can benefit from application of Noni lotion, which reduces inflammation and gives the tissues the materials they need to heal. All of our Noni lotions penetrate deep to heal sprains and strainsat the source.

Fractures

If you fracture a bone, you should definitely see a doctor, to get the treatment you need. But it’s also important to give your bone the best chance to heal fully and correctly. Noni lotions can actually penetrate all the way to the bone to promote healing.

How to Use Noni to Heal Injuries

When you first get injured, make sure to perform basic first aid. Clean the skin area and assess the damage. Elevating the injured area can slow bleeding and reduce inflammation. If there’s evidence of a sprain, strain, or fracture, stabilize the area to prevent further damage.
Once you’ve gotten the medical attention you need, if any, it’s time to start a healing routine. This is where Noni can make a big difference. Here’s how to use the different formulas we offer to heal different kinds of injuries.

Noni Lavender Lotion

This is our gentlest formula, great for daily use whether you have an injury or not. You can use it to treat multiple ailments and conditions above and below the surface of your skin. It is great for relieving pain, reducing inflammation, preventing infection, and helping repair damage at the source.
  • All plant based formula with organic noni pulp, organic lavender and grapefruit seed extract
  • Reduces scarring
  • Evens out skin tone and texture

Icy Heat Noni Lotion and IcyHeat Sports Formula

These formulas have our Noni Lavender formula as a base, but with the addition of menthol and camphor. The only difference between the two is, the Sports Formula contains more menthol and camphor so it takes effect more quickly. Both provide soothing relief for aching joints and muscles, bruises, and stiffness.
  • Apply and let air dry
  • Reduces pain and swelling
  • Loosens muscle tension and stiffness
Note: Because of the menthol and camphor in this formula, don’t use it on sensitive skin areas. Use Noni Lavender Lotion instead.

Instant Noni Aloe BioBandage

This formula is designed to adhere to the injury, to penetrate into the deep layers of tissue more quickly, for a faster recovery time. This can be used to restore damaged tissue, including muscle, skin, ligament, and bone.
  • Apply and let air dry as a protective covering
  • Speeds recovery time for sprains and fractures
  • Protects the injury

Why Does Noni Help?

Unfermented, slow-dehydrated Noni pulp is able to heal all these different kinds of tissues because it contains over 165 beneficial compounds that benefit the body. These compounds reduce pain, promote new tissue formation, and help prevent infection and scarring.
Here are just a very few of the compounds it contains that help heal the body:
  • Vitamins A and C (antioxidants)
  • Anthraquinone (helps cells create collagen and other building blocks of healthy skin)
  • Scopoletin (anti-inflammatory and analgesic)
Science is only just beginning to understand what traditional wisdom has shown for centuries: Noni heals the body. As more research comes out to explain why it has such powerful effects, we’ll keep you updated!

Alleviate These 3 Painful Horse Ailments with Noni

Horses are amazingly delicate in some ways, for being such strong, powerful animals. They’re prone to a number of painful, irritating skin conditions that can greatly detract from their quality of life.
Nothing is worse than seeing your beloved horse suffering, and it’s so important to find a treatment that works—preferably one that is safe and natural, without side effects. But natural pet medications that  get great results can be hard to come by.

We’re constantly learning new ways that noni can be used to promote the health of humans and animals, including horses. We’ve heard stories from our users for years, telling us how noni has helped their equine friends to overcome common skin ailments like sweet itch, rain rot, and mud fever. And veterinarians are confirming these results.
Here’s some more information about these three horse skin ailments, and how you can use noni to bring your horse much-needed relief, totally naturally.

Sweet Itch (Pruritis)

This condition is a hypersensitive reaction to the bites of certain flies, gnats, and other insects. It’s characterized by mild to severe itches along mane, back, and tail, but sometimes it also appears along the legs and belly. The skin continues to itch long after the insect bite, due to an extreme histamine response.
The itching is so severe that the skin may be damaged, with areas of sore, open, bleeding skin. Hair loss is also common, with bald patches turning grey and becoming permanently bald.
The excessive itching makes the condition last longer, as the skin continues to get irritated. It can be a very difficult condition to treat. Avoiding areas with the irritating insects can help, but just a few bites is enough to cause an outbreak of itching.

Want to Learn How Noni Can Help With Sweet Itch (Pruritis)? Read More Here

Rain Rot (Streptothricosis)

This is one of most common skin conditions in horses, caused by bacteria that enters cut or scraped skin. In order for the bacteria to spread rapidly and cause a problem, there has to be extreme moisture present, as the name suggests. Horses with thick coats that hold water or who live in damp stalls are at highest risk.

Initially, the area will be sensitive to the touch, with small lumps on the horse’s skin or hair. Soon you will see tufted mats of hair and/or crust-like scabs, which are painful and may bleed.
The scabs usually last 1-4 weeks if untreated, but you should treat it to reduce the risk of secondary infection which may be much worse. The scabs should be removed so they can dry out and heal, but this can be extremely painful.

How Noni Can Help

Taking noni orally can help boost the immune system to help your horse fight off the infection and prevent secondary infection.
If possible, apply Noni Pet Lotion before scabbing begins. Once the scabs form applying Noni Pet Lotion will soften the sores and help you remove them with less pain. It will also help the skin heal more quickly and prevent further infection.
Then apply the Noni Bio Bandage to the areas under the scabs, to protect new skin as it forms and to continue the healing process.

Mud Fever (Pastern Dermatitis), a.k.a. Greasy Heels or Cracked Heels

Mud fever is another painful bacterial skin infection caused by lingering dampness too close to the skin, which provides an environment for the bacteria to thrive. The bacteria may come from mud, hence the name, but they are found in dry areas as well, and can stay dormant in the skin for a long time until the wet conditions occur that allow them to grow.
This condition usually affects the lower legs and heels of the horse, especially if they were standing in a wet, muddy field. But it can occur elsewhere, such as under rugs and tack if sweating occurs to moisten the bacteria.
The symptoms are matted hair, crusty scabs, and sores on the lower legs of the horse. The heels may also feel greasy. Overall, the condition makes it painful for the horse to walk, and the horse may be lethargic, depressed, and lose its appetite.

How Noni Can Help

Veterinarians highly recommend noni lotion for this condition.Keep the area clean and dry, and the horse from the wet. Apply the Noni Pet Lotion and/or the Noni Bio Bandage. Repeat until healed.
Noni taken internally also helps strengthen the immune system and reduce inflammation, for a speedier recovery.
All three of these skin conditions are greatly helped by noni. If your horse is prone to any of these conditions, try noni for all-natural, fast relief, so your horse can get back to being his or herself.
