In ancient Egypt, the worship of cats is well-documented. Bastet, the Egyptian goddess of love, had the head of a cat. Ancient Romans viewed cats as a symbol of liberty and to the Far East cats were valued for crop protection from rodents and birds. Today, cats are loved worldwide for their fluffy fur and quirky personalities.
