How to Use Instant Noni Aloe BioBandage

You may not have heard of one of our most potent topical noni products, ideal for concentrated treatment of skin conditions, bruises, joint or muscle pain, and many other injuries. Our Instant Noni Aloe BioBandage formula is powerful and all-organic.
Keep it on hand to speed the healing of life’s inevitable aches and pains!

What Is a BioBandage?

A BioBandage is a thick paste, which is applied to a specific area of skin to protect it. As a BioBandage dries, it hardens into a shell that keeps debris out while still allowing the skin to breathe. At the same time, a Noni BioBandage provides lots of nutrients that your body needs to repair the damage.

Built From Your Ideas

As you may know, for many years, the only product made by Hawaiian Organic Noni was Noni Fruit Leather. Our topical products only came later, once we learned how big of an impact topically applied noni makes on pain relief and healing.
We got the idea for our Instant Noni Aloe BioBandage from the many people who were calling in and letting us know that they had made their own biobandages by mixing the Noni Fruit Leather with water to make a paste, which they applied to their injuries to relieve pain and speed up healing.
We wanted to make things easier on you at home, so we decided to create our own version.

Our Formula

As with all of our products, we use only organic ingredients in our Noni BioBandage:
The noni provides the bulk of the beneficial properties, protecting against infection, relieving inflammation, easing pain, and providing the nutrients to rebuild damaged tissues. The small amounts of aloe juice and oil of rosemary we add simply amplify the healing power of the noni.

How to Heal With Noni BioBandage

  1. Clean the skin area
  2. Apply the Instant Noni BioBandage to cover the problem area completely, leaving the formula on in a thick layer, rather than rubbing it in
  3. Smooth down the edges of the BioBandage so it stays on longer
  4. Let the paste dry hard for about 10 minutes, like a natural band aid
  5. The bandage will stay on until you peel it off or wash it off with warm water
  6. Once the paste is dry, you may cover the area with athletic tape or a band aid, but this is not necessary
  7. If the paste comes off or washes off in the shower, simply replace as often as needed until the affected skin is healed and restored

Noni BioBandage for Pets

We make an identical version of the BioBandage for your furry friends too! We just put some cute animals, including our farm dog Bhakti, on the label so you can see whose is whose!
Noni BioBandage is a great solution to treat your pets’ skin conditions and injuries, without having to resort to any harsh chemicals. Vets love using noni because it’s effective, organic, and won’t harm your pet if they lick it off.

Our Journey with Noni

When my wife and I moved to Kauai, back in 1982, we could never have imagined where we’d be today. We certainly didn’t realize that the noni trees that were everywhere in our valley would have such a big impact on our health, or that we would have the opportunity to share something so special with people all over the world.
With a new year starting, I wanted to take some time to reflect on our journey with noni. Remember, it’s never too late to start the next phase in your own life journey, whether that means taking new steps to put your health and family first, or whether it’s starting an exciting new business!

Right Place, Right time

Moving to Kauai from our organic farm in California, we knew we were making a new beginning, but we didn’t know how big of a story we were starting!
When we arrived on our new land, there were no roads, no electricity, no running water, and no buildings. We truly were starting from scratch!
Fortunately, we were starting from scratch in a land of abundance. Not only was there plenty of sunshine, ample precipitation, and potential for wind power, but the valley was also full of noni trees.

The Proof is In the Pudding

You know the saying “the proof is in the pudding?” It just means that you have to try something to know for sure what it’s about. It’s true of pudding, and it’s certainly also true of noni fruit.
We didn’t come to Kauai to farm noni. When we first arrived, I didn’t know anything about noni, or its impact on health. As we talked with older Polynesians and Hawaiians, we heard over and over about the power of noni — specifically, the power of the raw noni pulp, not the noni juice that is commonly sold today. But just words have never been enough to convince me of anything — I needed proof!
I saw friends being healed from chronic conditions, and when I tried noni for myself, I noticed a change in my energy levels right away. Over time, I found that I simply didn’t get sick anymore. As I’ve aged, I’ve been so thankful for noni’s ability to help me stay looking and feeling younger.
But what’s truly proved the power of noni to me is seeing the testimonials that have come in from you, our family of customers. Need some evidence yourself? Check out our testimonial page!

The Body of Evidence

What I experienced and saw was enough to get me interested in noni, and the more I learned about the science behind the anecdotal evidence, the more impressed I was. Researchers at the University of Hawaii, at the University Clinic in Hamburg, Germany, and all over the world are bringing in new results all the time showing noni’s ability to heal the body, prevent illness and injury, and relieve pain.
Here are just a few of the studies that have been done recently:
  • UBE Analytical Laboratories: Found Noni Fruit Leather contains 340,000 ORAC (antioxidant) units per 100 grams, beating out pomegranates, apples, and other antioxidant-high foods
  • Researchers from University Clinic in Hamburg Germany: Reported that noni fruit “reduced the pain sensitivity comparably to the central analgesic drug tramadol.” When extracts of noni fruitpuree were applied, the “effect was comparable to hydrocortisone.”
  • Acta Pharmacologica Sinica: Published a study showing noni is 75% as strong as morphine, as a central analgesic (pain-reliever), with no toxic level or side effects.

Building a Business

We realized that we wanted to share the power of noni with the rest of the world, but we needed a business model to do it. We knew we didn’t want to be like other companies that sell noni: multi-level marketing schemes, private labels, and other practices that take control away from the growers.
Today, Sunrise Organic Farm and Hawaiian Organic Noni are a 37 acre, family-owned and operated, certified organic farm, with an FDA certified organic Kitchen processing facility. We grow our own Noni, pick the fruit, process the products, package, and distribute ourselves.
We have maintained total control over every aspect of growing our organic trees, processing our fruit, and offering our products directly to you through our website, practitioners, or stores. This business model is very important to us. It protects us,the environment, and most importantly, you, our customers.

Noni Fruit Leather is Born

In the beginning of our journey with Noni, we only produced our Noni Fruit Leather, which is pure raw food from the non-fermented pulp of the fruit. Noni Fruit Leather was our solution to the major problem of distributing raw noni fruit: As soon as the fruit is picked it begins to ripen and within hours of ripening noni starts a rapid fermentation process.
Many people solve this problem either by letting the fruit ferment fully before distributing it, in the form of noni juice. Unfortunately, this destroys nearly all of the beneficial compounds in noni, and completely changes the chemical structure.
Through trial and error, we found that we could stop the fermentation process by simply removing the water from the raw noni pulp. This allowed us to preserve all those beneficial compounds.
We had to develop a unique dehydration system to accomplish this. Most fruit leathers or "fruit roll ups" are dried in just 10-12 hours, at a high heat above 140 degrees F. Our Noni Fruit Leather takes over 60 hours to dry, never going above 115 degrees F. Any higher heat than that destroys enzymes and beneficial compounds.
From our own personal experiences consuming the Noni Fruit Leather, we knew we had captured the potency of the pulp through our unique low heat dehydration system. We had our results confirmed by an independent lab, and found that our fruit leather is 14x more potent than noni juice.

Noni for Skin

We started making our Noni Lotions after receiving emails, letters, and calls from customers who had mixed our Noni Fruit Leather into water and applied it to the skin with amazing results. They found that it quickly got rid of pain and a variety of skin ailments.
It took several years of development to refine the lotion formulas, but the response has been fantastic. The lotions can relieve pain almost instantaneously and address skin conditions like eczema and psoriasis.
We now offer our Noni Lavender Lotion for skin conditions and pain relief (more general in use) or our IcyHeat Noni Lotion with menthol crystals and camphor oil specifically for pain relief or inflammation. For even faster pain relief, try our IcyHeat Sports Formula, which contains 1% more menthol and camphor.

Protect Your Skin from Sun with These 5 Foods

No matter how careful you are to avoid harmful UV rays, sometimes we all get a little too much sun exposure. But did you know that the foods you eat can impact how much damage the sun does to your skin?
These five foods have been shown to help protect the skin in various ways from the sun. Some prevent damage, and some heal it after it happens. Eating a good mix of all of them is a recipe for youthful, long-lived, healthy skin!
Note: None of these foods acts as a substitute for topically-applied sunscreen, but as a supplement, they add additional protection and repair damage that does occur.

Berries

Many foods contain the beneficial compound ellagic acid, but strawberries, raspberries, blackberries, and pomegranate are some of the best natural sources. Ellagic acid is a natural phenol antioxidant, which may help protect DNA from damage and mutation.

The full scope of ellagic acid’s powers is still being studied, but it may help cancer cells die like normal cells and inhibit the growth of melanoma cells. More cosmetically, there is also evidence that it prevents sun spots and other UV-induced photo aging, such as freckles.
You can also find ellagic acid in walnuts and pecans. So eat up!

Brightly-Colored Fruits and Vegetables

Fruits and vegetables that are brightly colored contain a variety of beneficial antioxidants and other compounds that can help protect your skin from the sun. The best way to get the full range of benefits is to eat a wide range of colors each day.
In particular, orange/yellow fruits and vegetables, such as carrots and squash, contain carotenes. Carotenes are polyphenol antioxidants which have been shown to absorb both natural and artificial UV radiation.
Another great color of fruits and vegetables for your skin is the red set, such as tomatoes. Red fruits and vegetables contain a specific type of carotene called lycopene. Supplementing diets long-term with lycopene-rich foods provides measurable protection from sunburn.

Foods with Omega-3 Fatty Acids

There are tons of reasons to eat foods high in omega-3 fatty acids. These fats, found in healthful foods such as flax seed, walnuts, red peppers, spinach, and edamame, are beneficial to the body, and necessary for healthy functioning of many organs.
This includes the largest organ: the skin! When you eat foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, the fatty acids are deposited into your skin. This helps keep your skin youthful, but it also protects from the sun.
Studies have shown that after the omega-3s are incorporated into the skin, the amount of UV-B needed to cause sunburn more than doubles. Over time, if omega-3s are a regular part of your diet, the amount deposited into the skin will increase over time, giving greater protection against UV radiation. Once subjects stopped their omega-3 rich diets, it took 10 weeks for skin to lose the omega-3s deposited there.

Noni Fruit

Noni fruit is a Polynesian superfood that contains over 165 beneficial compounds in its raw form. It can be eaten or applied directly to sunburned skin, where it starts healing right away.
The compounds in noni include antioxidants, which reduce the breakdown of collagen and fats in skinas we age, a process accelerated by sun exposure. Noni can also erase age spots, help fill fine lines, relieve pain from sunburn, and prevent future sun damage.
Many people take noni in the form of juice. Unfortunately, the process of fermenting the juice causes most of the beneficial compounds in noni to be destroyed. Noni is most powerful when eaten raw, or when the raw pulp is applied topically to the skin.
We’ve found a way to preserve the delicate compounds in the noni pulp by slow-dehydrating the non-fermented pulp with low heat for maximum potency. Eating our noni fruit leather or using our raw noni lotions is an organic way to protect your skin from the damaging sun.
What do you do to stay protected from the sun? Let us know in the comments.

Naturally Eliminate Head Lice with Noni

School’s back in season, and with that comes an increased risk of head lice. Commercial lice cures are full of harsh chemicals, and there are increasing numbers of lice who are resistant to those chemicals. They’re potentially dangerous, and they might not even work!
Luckily, natural remedies can remove lice without chemicals, and they’re often more thorough and reliable. In particular, a Polynesian superfood called noni repels lice completely.
Noni is a great bet for easy, organic lice removal. Here’s how it works to naturally repel lice away from the head without harsh chemicals.

Lice: Know the Enemy

Head lice are tiny, wingless parasites that live among human hairs on the scalp. They feed on tiny amounts of blood as they live and breed. Lice aren’t dangerous, and they don’t spread disease, but they are annoying. Scratching at the scalp can also lead to irritation and infection.
Don’t ignore lice if someone in your family may have contracted them. They spread quickly, especially in a school setting. It can take months of vigilance to be fully clear of lice.

Tricks to Find Lice

You can check for lice by looking at the roots of the hair for nits, which are lice eggs. Nits look like tiny bits of dandruff adhered to the hair follicle close to the scalp, but unlike dandruff, they can’t be brushed away. Only in a very heavy infestation will you see actual lice on the scalp.
Many people who have lice end up with very itchy scalps, due to a reaction with the saliva of the lice. Scratching can lead to further irritation and infection. You might even see a rash develop on the scalp. Before itching starts, the sensation can also be like things crawling or moving on the scalp.

Conventional Lice Treatments Have Two Big Problems

Why use noni when there are other conventional treatments available? It’s part values, part health-consciousness, and part common sense practically.

Chemical Lice Treatments are Toxic

Usually, when lice are discovered, you start a process of chemical eradication. The problem is, these chemical pesticides are toxic. Even though you’re administering them at a far-below-lethal dose, they can’t be great for your health, especially for kids.
You should never use more of a conventional lice product than is directed, use the same treatment too often in your life, or mix treatments. These chemicals are dangerous, and the scalp is a sensitive area. Many people prefer caution in this case.

Lice are Evolving

There’s increasing evidence to show that lice are gradually becoming resistant to the harsh chemicals we’ve developed to eradicate them. Doctors have warned for a while that this process might be underway, and we’re starting to see the effects.
Treatments don’t always work anymore. Infestations get treated more slowly. This August, in fact, treatment-resistant strains of lice were found in 25 states. This alarming trend should encourage all of us to go back to nature for our treatments whenever we can.

How to Treat Lice Naturally

You can treat lice without using any harsh chemicals at all. It takes some vigilance and patience, but to us and many of our customers, it’s worth it. You avoid the toxins of conventional treatments, and those harsh treatments were likely to fail anyway.
  1. Remember: to get rid of a lice infestation, you have to kill both the adult lice and the eggs they laid, which are each resistant to different attacks.
  2. It’s usually most effective to start by coming methodically through the hair and picking out the nits—this helps prevent re-infestation once you’ve driven away the lice.
  3. Olive oil, mayonnaise, and other greasy substances like hair gel can smother lice, but you must treat the hair under a shower cap overnight as lice can stop breathing for hours at a time.
  4. Heat can kill nits, so give hair a good blow dry after you wash the olive oil out, then do another comb-through.
  5. Clean linens that come into contact with the head, but don’t feel the need to sterilize your whole house—lice can’t live long without a host, so they usually don’t stray far.

Noni: Naturally Anti-Parasitic

Noni is a superfood with over 165 beneficial compounds that help the body fight off infection from bacteria, fungus, and parasites. For parasites both internal and external, including insects, worms, fungi, and microbes, noni is a powerful repellent.
It works on both pets and people. When taken by pets, it naturally prevents fleas and ticks without any of the side effects of chemical treatments. It can also remove internal worms and other parasites from pets, as well as humans.
We recommend using it liberally every step of the way as you de-louse.

As Close as You Can Get to Splatting Raw Fruit on Your Head

In Hawaii, many tutus and kukus (grandparents) treat lice with noni. They take a ripe, white noni fruit and smash it on the head of the person with lice. Some people claim you can see the lice jumping away!
The problem is, noni is too perishable to ship the raw fruit to people who don’t live where it grows. We’ve developed an innovative low-heat drying technique that preserves the delicate beneficial compounds in the raw pulp, while making it shippable. You can even store it with no refrigeration!
We take that dried noni pulp and turn it into our Noni Lavender Lotion, which is a great topical treatment for lice. Noni works by discouraging the lice, and convincing them it’s a bad environment, rather than by killing them.
It’s 100% organic, chemical-free, and nontoxic, plus it’s made, bottled, and shipped all from our small family farm on Kauai.

5 Tips to Use Noni for Massage

Massage is one of the best ways to connect with your loved ones, while delivering powerful pain and stress relief. It’s a gesture of caring that can’t help but bring two people closer together.
It also has tons of health benefits:
  • Pain relief
  • Improved circulation
  • Enhanced sleep quality
  • Reduced fatigue and stress
  • Relief from headaches
  • Boosted immune function
  • Skin health
You don’t always have to go to a professional to get a massage—many people enjoy massaging and getting massages from their friends and family. You might massage your husband, wife, children, parents, or friends. It’s a fun, relaxing, healing activity that’s always appreciated.

When you use Hawaiian Organic Noni lotions during massage at home, you’re one step closer to a professional spa setting. Many local Hawaiian spas use our lotions as part of massage or skin treatments.
Here’s how we recommend using Noni for massage!

1. Apply Liberally and Let Dry

Noni lotions are water-based lotions that nourish the skin and heal it. They are best incorporated into massage by applying to localized areas, such as the shoulders, back, neck, or calves.
Use Noni lotion to loosen and relax the area that is tense or in pain. Apply and gently rub the lotion into the skin, then let air dry. Move on to massage another area of the body to give the Noni lotion time to penetrate into the muscle tissue. After 10-15 minutes come back and begin to massage the once tense area using a combination of long, slow, deep strokes, and shorter, faster, shallow strokes. Check in to make sure you’re using a comfortable amount of pressure, and work and stretch tense muscles gently, working along the muscle rather than across it.
As you massage, you may apply more Noni lotion as needed. Don’t rub it in until it’s dry, unless you want to exfoliate the skin. Let a thin coat air dry on the skin, for maximum penetration of the beneficial nutrients.

2. Use Noni Lavender Lotion to Soothe and Nourish

A gentle, healing formula, Noni Lavender Lotion is a great option for massaging across wider areas. You can use it on sensitive skin, and it can be applied multiple times each day. The formula soothes with gentle lavender, and the beneficial compounds of noni work to relieve inflammation and pain in sore muscles.
Noni Lavender Lotion is made of organic, pure Noni pulp mixed with water to make a nourishing lotion with the ability to heal the body from the outside in. It not only works to restore skin and muscle tissue, it reduces inflammation, relieves pain, and provides the nutrient building blocks to build and repair healthy muscle.
Noni has been applied topically on Hawaii since Polynesian settlers first brought and cultivated it here. They brought Noni with them because they knew how powerful the fruit was. Eating Noni fruit and applying it to the skin promotes and maintains good health—it’s ancient wisdom.
Use Noni Lavender Lotion to bring that healing power to work on your loved ones’ aches and pains through massage.

4. Apply Icy Heat Noni Lotion to Feet First

This strange trick has been proven time and time again when we attend farmers markets and trade shows, as well as on the farm and in testimonials you send in. If you rub Icy Heat Noni Lotion on the soles of a person’s feet and then to the affected area, the menthol, camphor, and noni all take effect much more quickly. There are over 2000 nerve endings on the bottom of your feet that allow our Noni lotions to penetrate the whole body through these nerves for quickness of response.
When you or your loved ones need speedy relief from pain, remember this trick! It’s unbelievable how quickly these lotions take effect to fight pain and inflammation.

5. Massage Your Pets Too!

Don’t forget your furry friends! Pets love massage too. It’s a lot like giving them a good rubdown, but you can actually target specific muscle groups, relieve tension, and help them relax. Especially for aging pets, massage is a wonderful way to bond through caring for them.
You can use our Noni Lavender Lotion for Pets to target especially sore or lethargic muscles. It will relieve pain and inflammation in cats, dogs, and even horses. All of these animals enjoy massage. Just apply the lotion beneath the fur and rub into the skin. Remember do not use Icy Heat Noni Lotion on animals as if they accidentally got it in their eyes they do not have the recourse to get it out!
Don’t worry if your pet licks some of the lotion off. Not only is it safe to eat, the lotion actually can work just as well from the inside to promote health.
Whether you’re massaging your human or animal friends, Noni can help a good massage penetrate deep down where it’s needed. The beneficial compounds in Noni take your massage to the next level by relieving pain, reducing inflammation, and repairing muscle tissue.

Summer Skin Part 4: Harmful Chemicals in Cosmetics

Spending lots of time outside in nature is one of the best parts of summer. But summertime also has lots of dangers for your skin. Good thing Hawaiian Organic Noni is here to help! Here’s another way that our Noni lotions can keep your skin healthy this summer.
Many people use cosmetics, especially shaving cream and antiperspirants, frequently in the summer to feel fresh, clean, and well-groomed in the heat. But shaving cream and antiperspirants are oftenfull of harmful chemicals that can cause serious health problems.
Here are some facts you might not know about these everyday cosmetics. We’ll also share how you can use our nourishing Noni Lavender Lotion as a toxin-free, organic alternative.

Why Do Chemicals in Cosmetics Matter?

Your skin is your largest organ, and the most vulnerable. While it is waterproof, it allows for the absorption of many other things, good and bad. This means that it is very important that we watch what we put on our skin, and make sure our cosmetics are free from harmful chemicals.
Shaving cream and antiperspirant are two of the biggest culprits, and they are the best at penetrating into the skin, bloodstream, and endocrine system to do serious damage.
You apply shaving cream to warm, moist skin, so your pores are fully open. As you shave, you exfoliate away the top layer of skin, leaving fresh new skin exposed to the harsh chemicals. You’re also likely to get micro-cuts in your skin, where chemicals can enter your bloodstream.

Antiperspirant is especially dangerous because you apply it to an area with two major lymph glandsunder the skin. Chemicals can easily enter the bloodstream and interfere with hormonal functioning.

What’s in Shaving Cream and Antiperspirant?

What toxins are threatening you from the depths of your shaving cream can? What side effects could your daily application of antiperspirant cause? Have you ever actually looked at the label for yourself?

Shaving Cream

Although pressurized shaving cream no longer contains chlorofluorocarbons, most formulas still include plenty of chemicals which can negatively impact your health.
Here are just a few examples:
  • Ethanoalamines (TEA, DEA, MEA): These foaming agents, which can be readily absorbed into the skin, may disrupt hormones, and can form cancer-causing nitrates and nitrosamines. They are also known skin and respiratory irritants.
  • Sodium Lauryl/Laureth Sulfate: This chemical is an inexpensive and effective foaming agent. Itirritates the skin, is toxic to your organs, and is linked to cell mutation leading to cancer.
  • Butylated Hydroxytoluene (BHT): This preservative was rated the 37th most toxic chemicalby the Federal Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry in 1992. It can cause skin, eye and lung irritation, hormone disruption, and is potentially carcinogenic.

Antiperspirant

The toxic ingredients in most antiperspirant formulas can have a big impact on the body. Here are some of the most harmful chemicals in antiperspirants:
  • Aluminum: You’ve no doubt heard of the dangers of aluminum in antiperspirants. There is significant evidence linking this heavy metal to Alzheimers and breast cancer.
  • Triclosan: This antimicrobial chemical is a skin irritant, may disrupt thyroid function, and has been shown to affect other critical hormone systems. The American Medical Association advises that triclosan products not be used in the home, yet triclosan is still in many antiperspirants.
  • Talc: This soft mineral is used as an absorbent and color additive. If talc contains asbestiform fibers, it is highly carcinogenic. Brands are not required to say whether these fibers are present in the cosmetic grade talc they use, and cosmetic talc is totally unregulated.

Other Harmful Chemicals

Both antiperspirant and shaving cream often contain:
  • Parabens: Preservatives linked to breast cancer in women.
  • Glycols: Moisturizers that irritate the skin and may contribute to blood and kidney disease.
  • Parfum (Fragrances): Many of the chemicals used to make fragrances are untested, either in isolation or in combination. A few are associated with neurotoxicity and cancer.
It’s frightening what you can find in your bathroom cabinet! Why take the risk when there are safer alternatives readily available?

Keeping Safe from Harmful Chemicals in Cosmetics

The only way to keep yourself and your family safe from the toxins in cosmetics is to be vigilant about reading labels. Wherever you can, look for clean, nontoxic alternatives to products.
Finding replacements for antiperspirants and shaving cream should be a top priority, because they are both applied to sensitive skin and can easily enter the bloodstream.
There are lots of natural, organic brands that sell nontoxic, natural cosmetics, including deodorant and shaving cream, but don’t trust health claims that can’t be backed up.
  • Check ingredient labels yourself
  • Research brands’ philosophies, practices, and histories
  • Look for reputable third-party certifications
The more you educate yourself, the easier it will be to eliminate toxic cosmetics and other products. You’ll be able to look for products that aren’t just “not harmful,” but which truly promote the health of you and your family.

How to Use Noni Lavender Lotion as a Replacement:

My family has devoted itself to cultivating and sharing the power of Noni fruit, and we’re constantly amazed at the countless ways it can be used.
We recently found, from our family of customers and our own experimentation, that our Noni Lavender Lotion can be used as both an antiperspirant and a shaving lotion. Not only is it a chemical-free, organic replacement, but it actually nourishes the skin, soothes irritation and permanently improves its quality over time. As an added benefit research has shown noni pulp to contain collagen which is also anti-wrinkling.
Here’s how to use Noni Lavender Lotion:

As a Shaving Lotion

  1. Apply a liberal coat of Noni Lavender Lotion to the skin to be shaved
  2. Shave the skin as normal
  3. Experience the smooth lubrication of the razor and the all-natural scent—who needs foam?
  4. Rinse the area, apply a second coat of lotion, and let it dry or keep rubbing to exfoliate
  5. Enjoy total freedom from post-shave stinging or razor burn

As an Antiperspirant

  1. Apply a coat of Noni Lavender Lotion to the armpits
  2. Let it dry, and enjoy all-natural relief from excessive sweating and odor
You can rest assured that the main ingredient noni is grown, processed, and shipped from our small, organic family farm. You can also look for yourself and see a short list of identifiable ingredients: Noni pulp, grapefruit seed extract, Lavender and water. The grapefruit seed extract is from a steamed extraction process not a chemical extraction process and the Lavender is a true organic French Lavender of the finest quality.

Get Back to Nature on a Hawaiian Organic Noni Farm Tour

If you’re planning a trip to Kauai and you’re looking for a unique way to get in touch with the natural beauty of the island, consider taking a tour of the farm where we’ve grown organic Noni fruit for over thirty years.

Over the course of a 2 ½ hour personal tour, you’ll gain a unique understanding of the plants and animals of Kauai, and how they contribute to a healthy ecosystem – which includes humans!

Here are some of the things you’ll learn about and experience on your rejuvenating farm tour:

Beautiful Scenery

Kauai is geologically the oldest of the Hawaiian islands at about 5 million years old.  It’s often said to be the most remote and beautiful of the Hawaiian Islands, known as the “Garden Island.”  There’s a reason we’ve chosen to make our home here in the Kaakaaniu Valley – there’s no place like it on Earth.

As you explore the extensive 37 acre organic Noni farm, you’ll get a unique look at the ancient valley and plateau, which has orchards stretching all the way to the Pacific Ocean.

Natural Remedies

You’ll also learn about the ancient Polynesian medicinal fruit we grow here on the plantation.  We’ll tell you all about the history of Morinda Citrifolia – known more commonly as Noni fruit – and how it came to the Hawaiian Islands
.
Noni fruit has been a natural remedy for centuries, eaten raw or rubbed on the body to promote health. We’ll explain how Noni has been used as a health product throughout the years.  Recently, there has been a bulk of published research from scientific laboratory studies, which are beginning to explain what the Polynesians have known for centuries – Noni heals.

Here are just a few of the positive effects Noni can have on the body:
  • Boost the immune system
  • Decrease inflammation
  • Stabilize cholesterol, blood pressure, and blood sugar levels
  • Improved join health
  • Youthful skin tone and texture
  • Promote cardiovascular health
  • Reduce pain

You’ll get the chance to learn the specifics on the farm tour, and browse our collection of articles.  In addition, you’ll get to sample all of the farm’s Noni health products – fruit leather and lotions that can have a dramatic positive impact on the human body.  We’ll explain the uses and benefits of each product, including our Noni products for pets!

Local Plants

As part of the tour, you’ll also get to see some of the wild plants that grow on the plantation.  You’ll see Noni trees growing in the wild, when you’ll get to smell the distinctive scent of the ripe raw fruit, as well sampling this superfood in its natural state.

Intermixed with the wild Noni trees are banana, papaya, mango, lychee, star fruit, avocado, coconut, and banyan trees, as well as many tropical flowers.

We’ve been living in the valley for many years, so we’re experienced tour guides to the native plants of Kauai.

Animals

The farm is home to many wild and domesticated animals.  Some of them, like our native earthworms, have important jobs on the farm.  We’ll show you the “Worm Hotel,” where the worms busily turn kitchen scraps into black gold.  Black gold is what farmers call worm castings, which are hugely beneficial for the soil.

Some of the animals, like Billy Bob (one of the farm’s local roosters)and Bhakti (the farm’s 10 year old Australian Sheppard and Airedale mix)are fixtures of everyday farm life.

Then there are the beautiful wild animals that make the Kaakaaniu Valley their home.  You may see an albatross soaring above the ocean, or even a dolphin if you’re very lucky.

Our Friends the Worms : What Goes Into Good Soil…and Good Noni

We pride ourselves on our soil at Hawaiian Organic Noni.  Nutrient-dense soil means that the food grown in it will also be full of nutrients.  So we take the health of our soil very seriously.  We’ve spend years nurturing it, feeding it, and caring for it.  But we couldn’t have done it without our friends the worms.

What makes up good soil?

Science is just beginning to understand the full complexity of soil.  There are so many factors that go into determining the quality of soil:
  • ·         Texture
  • ·         Depth of topsoil
  • ·         Water storage and drainage
  • ·         Nutrient density (both macro and micronutrients)
  • ·         Volume of air
  • ·         Presence of living and decaying organic matter
  • ·         (Aggregation) how well soil particles stick to each other.

You can improve the quality of your soil in some surprisingly simple ways.

Composting Returns Nutrients to the Soil

Composting improves soil’s texture, air flow, water storage, and nutrient density.
The basic process is simple: Mix yard and kitchen scraps in a big pile, soak it with water, and turn it frequently.  The only problem is, composting takes a long time, and turning the pile can be hard work.
Luckily, worms give us an easier way to make top-quality compost.

Vermicomposting for Soil Health

Worms are faster compost-makers than fungi and bacteria, and their castings – called black gold – are one of the best soil additives created by man or nature.
Vermicomposting is making compost using worms.  Most people do this in worm bins – Google it to get some idea of the many options – which keeps the worms from leaving, provides them with the shade they love, and helps keep them moist.
You can either buy worms or collect them from your garden, but we recommend using local varieties so they can fill their natural ecological niches.
The only thing left to add is food for the worms!
Here are some likes:
  • ·         Most fruit and vegetable scraps
  • ·         Bread and pasta
  • ·         Tea leaves/bags and coffee grounds (worms love grit!)
  • ·         Crushed/ground eggshells
  • ·         Hair, tissues, paper, shredded egg cartons, etc.
  • ·         Small amounts of lawn clippings, weeds, etc.
  • ·         Sawdust

And some dislikes:

  • ·         Highly acidic fruits
  • ·         Spicy or pungent vegetables
  • ·         Meat and dairy products
  • ·         Shiny paper
  • ·         Fats and oils

Feed them a little bit at a time (no more than the same volume of food as there are worms), only adding more food as it gets eaten.  Worms like to eat food that has just started to decompose, but which isn’t really yucky yet.

As the worms eat, they convert food into black gold.  Black gold looks like compost and should have very little smell.  Scatter the castings on your garden, mix them with potting soil, use them as mulch or fertilizer.  You can’t use too much – there’s no way for the castings to damage plants.

How We Use Worms

At Hawaiian Organic Noni, we keep indigenous earthworms in an area that we call the “Worm Hotel,” busily turning kitchen scraps into black gold.

We add the castings to our soil, where they deposit vital nutrients in a form that is easy for plants to absorb.  The noni trees love it, and produce more nutrient-dense fruit as a result of the more nutritious soil.

How To Make Your Garden Worm-Friendly

You can also work on making your garden more worm-friendly, to naturally attract these hardworking creatures.  The key to attracting wild worms is to create a good habitat.

Here are some musts:
  • ·         Create mulched areas, covered with leaves, grass clippings, or other materials
  • ·         Keep the soil moist
  • ·         Minimize the amount of digging and tilling you do
  • ·        Keep your soil toxin-free

Wild worms will give your soil the same benefits as adding vermicompost you make in a worm bin, just slower and less concentrated.

It’s definitely worth making the effort to attract worms to your garden, and it’s even more beneficial to vermicompost in worm bins.  We encourage you to give it a try!
